Pour une fois un Speilberg qui ne m'a pas trop agacé. C'est déjà pas mal. 5/10

Live free or die hard (Len Wiseman)
Watchable. Especially when you are bored on a red-eye flight. 5/10

Se, jie (Ang Lee)
Sorry Ang, despite certain qualities, there are too many things I don't like in your film. 4/10. But it makes me think of how impressed I was by the cinematography in "Zi hudie", similar in many ways, but Ye Lou seems to be a much greater film maker. So thank you for indirectly reminding me to follow his work.

I try and watch her films, but I am not an Akerman fan. However, this was the second viewing, and as I am meanwhile much more familiar with Marcel P.'s litterature masterpiece, I really was into it this time. 7/10

Slacker (Richard Linklater)
Le petit truc indie américain un peu culte. C'est de la pose et y a pas de quoi s'exciter. Pas détestable non plus, certes. La fin est très bien, cela dit. 6/10.

Changement d'adresse (Emmanuel Mouret)
Au début j'ai pensé "c'est quoi cette connerie?" mais finalement c'est bien sympathique. Allez un petit 7/10 pour Manu.

Le temps retrouvé (Raoul Ruiz)
Je ne pense pas que le film tienne tout seul, mais c'est tout à fait génial. 9/10.

A scanner darkly (Richard Linklater)
Not as surprised as the first time with "waking life". It is nice. 7/10. However, I should now stop viewing Linklater's work for some time.

Un amour de Swann (Volker Schlöndorff)
I should also stop watching Proust's adaptations! Volker completely mixed stories and situations... His film is completely pointless. À la poubelle! 1/10

Hua jai tor ra nong (Apichatpong Weerasethakul)
I say yes, you say no but you will change your mind! 8/10. Apichatpong is probably my fave film maker these days. This one isn't typical of his work, and it's completely crazy, but it's great!

Mary (Abel Ferrara)
Y a de l'abus comme souvent chez lui, mais il est quand même sacrément fort ce Ferrara.

Inland empire (David Lynch)
Quel film!! 10/10

Heima (Dean DeBlois)
Love'em.
I am just wondering what they mean by "unannounced concerts", when you see the audience sometimes... Also some shots are a bit too much, and make you think of Pink Floyd at Pompeii, but it's fun.

Ukigumo (Mikio Naruse)
Clearly, I am going to watch lots of Naruse very soon. Odd stuff: I had an english subtitle file which obviously was computer translated from spanish (I can prove it). Hard to say whether it disturbed a lot my appreciation of the film, but that was bloody weird...

Los lunes al sol (Fernando León de Aranoa)
It makes you think of a spanish Ken Loach. It's got weaknesses, but it's overall quite ok.

Bon alors là... il y a quelques trucs assez ridicules dedans - même pas mal en fait - et pourtant au final c'est passionnant, et même grand. Et tout ça avec une improbable Sophie Marceau... vraiment, c'est quelque chose!

C'est quand même un peu long et dur à suivre. Un peu prétentieux sans doute, ceci dit il y a des plans qui déchirrent l'univers. Et c'est déjà beaucoup.

Finalement Carlos Sorin fait toujours un peu le même film. Tout ne va pas pour le mieux, mais tout le monde est bien gentil. Tout cela est ma foi bien sympathique. 7/10

Très très grand film. Allez je lui mets un 10/10.

Sans grande ampleur, mais sympathique.

This is not her best, but it is marvelous. Which says it all about how great Naomi is. She will be a giant.

One of the most beautiful things you can see on a screen. Histoire un poil gnan gnan, mais on lui pardonne (même la dernière séquence, carrément exagérée!)

7 vidas - 1a temporada
It's ok to watch this while eating, to practice your spanish. And it's quite fun to recognise some of these actors in Almodovar films, like Blanca Portillo and my favorite, Javier Cámara.

I remember Rocheteau playing for Pialat, now it's Nastase playing for Köhler. Excellent film, by the way.

C'est n'importe quoi. Confus. Et l'utilisation de la bande-son est souvent assez ridicule et cheap. Malgré tout ça, il y a des passages où on se dit "putain man, ça arrache bien!!"

That's a very impressive work, especially on the narrative and the sound. We also hear great Elliott Smith' songs, that Gus already used for his Good Will Hunting. Witty.

It's got some flaws, but it's very enjoyable. There are some moments in there that will scare you like never before... so, as a jaded and blasé film viewer, all I can say is: well done guys!

The weirdest thing... I had already seen bits of it in Inland empire, because a character watches it on TV or something. I recommend this as a treat for hard core Lynch fans, they will love it, but all others should just avoid it.

I wanted to see "one plus one", but anyway, it's really cool.

I find the storytelling very weak, and for a 'horror movie' it does not cut it for me. But it doesn't matter much, because Dario's visual imagery makes this a wonderful experience. Oh the car in the woods! oh the saturated colors everywhere! oh the fisheye in the office...

Scott Walker: 30 century man (Stephen Kijak)
Very honest documentary. Not necessarily the greatest film ever, but it's alright. And it made me listen to Scott 3 again, so I can't complain.

Bon, la fin est peut-être moins puissante, mais sinon ce film est vraiment ultime! 9/10

Dawn of the dead (George A. Romero)
At the beginning I wasn't much into it, but then it takes off. And I had no idea this would be so funny! So yeah yeah, it's absolutely brilliant!!

I've seen a few films by Julio Medem, and I liked them all. But this one... man, this one is so great! I say: masterpiece.

Interesting indeed, but it won't please your eyes... nor your ears!

Je continue le matage des romeros. Pas mal aussi celui-là, mais pas quand même du niveau de Dawn of the Dead.

Sans surprise, un film sobre et excellent. La photographie est pas mal, aussi.

800 balas (Álex de la Iglesia)
Au début c'est correct, mais ensuite ça devient franchement assez nul. Deçu.

Clairement un chef d'oeuvre. Les scènes en ville font peut-être un peu trop comédie classique de cinéma muet, mais la première partie est vraiment grandiose. J'ai eu le privilège de voir ça avec un pianiste qui accompagnait le film... un plaisir de gourmet.

Some good stuff, but clearly not as good as season 6.

Diary of the dead (George A. Romero)
Pas mal, sans plus. J'ai fini avec les zombies de monsieur Romero, et je vote pour 'dawn of the dead'.

Batman begins (Christopher Nolan)
Mouais, bof. Moyen.

Crimen ferpecto (Álex de la Iglesia)
C'est un peu du cinéma de flambeur, mais pour le coup c'est quand même assez réussi, avec notamment une première partie carrément joussive.

The dark knight (Christopher Nolan)
Bon c'est quand même assez loin d'être le chef d'oeuvre dont j'avais entendu parler. Il y a de bonnes choses, et le Joker est excellent. Mais tout cela est bien longuet, et comme pour le premier, les scènes d'action sont illisibles, mal tournées, mal découpées, très agaçant. Et le grand Michael Caine n'apporte pas grand chose cette fois ci.

Un bon petit film. C'est pas parfait, il utilise par exemple un petit peu trop la bande son, mais il y a plein de bonnes idées.

Dawn of the dead (Zack Snyder)
Que penser de ce remake? Bah, ça arrache drôlement! Ce n'est bien sûr pas le chef d'oeuvre original, mais c'est très convaincant. D'ailleurs avant même le générique de début, le mec nous a déjà fait la totale en cinq minutes époustouflantes.

Bon, il y a quelques ficelles un peu grosses, et on est encore assez loin de la maestria de "abre los ojos", pourtant seulement un an plus tard. Mais cela reste quand même un bon petit film.

That's a really great movie. So far I've liked all of what I've seen from Medem. Very much.

Another 'first film'. Rien de grandiose, mais c'est un bon petit film.

Voilà un film raté, mais je l'adore quand même. Et puis avouons le: regarder Manuela Vellés pendant deux heures est une des meilleures choses que l'on puisse faire...

Rien de phénoménal, mais c'est d'une qualité standard, ça se laisse regarder sans problème et c'est donc parfait pour qui veut écouter un peu d'argentin. Si quieres, Vos podés hacer lo mismo...

Poulet prend un peu trop la pose artiste, ce qui ne me pose pas de problème en soi, mais cela n'apporte rien au film, si ce n'est sans doute le fait de l'allonger - ou le diluer - , afin d'en faire un vrai "long métrage" - à partir d'une heure si je ne m'abuse. Mais bon, sans être vraiment réussi, il y a des scènes et des plans vraiment très bien là-dedans. Et Dhorasoo aime beaucoup Belle And Sebastian, ce qui prouve que c'est un bon gars.

Interesting to watch this again 15 years later. There are bits in it that clearly already announce "tierra", and more generally this is pure medem-ism. I found the photography somehow inferior to most of his other films, but it's still a great movie. Thumbs up for Julio, vivement le prochain!

At the beginning I thought this might be the first film by Naomi that I woudn't like. But then she goes to this tatoo artist/psychologist and it becomes amazing. Vive Naomi!! She is unique.

Probably as close to the comic as you can get. It's not bad, but I did not like the use of pop music.

This comes as a good surprise. OK, maybe you don't need 2 hours to tell such a poor story, but it is definitely a very exciting visual entertainment.

Gran Torino (Clint Eastwood)
There may be a few details here and there that I do not like (I mean, why would a lawyer make a pause when reading the testament "I leave my gran torino to..." - ta ta ta!! close ups on the faces of different members of the family - just an example...), but actually we don't care, because this film is simply another great great work by Clint Eastwood. Everyone is a caricature, and we say yeah!

I like this. I am happy to say I found with Masumura another director that I want to check in more depth. This living spider tatoo is really something!!

I wanted to watch something good, so I picked a film by my favorite director of all times. To be honest, I found it inferior to many of his other films. Which means it is better than 98% only of the other stuff, instead of 99.99999999%

Le voyage du ballon rouge (Hou Hsiao-Hsien)
Bon, je suis un grand fan de Hou, mais là j'ai trouvé cela quand même un peu fade. Il y a bien sûr de jolies choses - c'est pas n'importe quoi, on parle quand même de Hou, là! - mais il manque petit truc, c'est sûr.

Yoru no onnatachi (Kenji Mizoguchi)
Moi ce que j'aime chez Mizoguchi, c'est la longue liste de ses films, garantie que j'ai encore une bonne quantité d'excellents films à voir. Comme celui-ci par exemple.

Nunmul (Im Sang-Soo)
Bon, encore un film "teenagers paumés" un peu trash. Deuxième film de Im Sang-Soo, il se fait encore un peu la main, c'est par moment un peu brouillon et téléphoné, mais on sent qu'il y a du talent et des idées. Les trois suivants sont tous excellents.

Un film qui ne décolle jamais vraiment, mais qui évite par là le grand guignol que je craignais un peu. Donc pas mal.

Bon, finalement c'est en regardant des films comme ça qu'on se rend compte du génie de types comme Chaplin et Keaton. Les Harold Lloyd ne sont que des scènes juxtaposées avec un vague fil conducteur, et un enchainement de gags plus ou moins réussis. Pas du tout la même division je trouve.

Quelques blagues ratées ou peu à mon goût, mais dans l'ensemble vraiment très bien et très drôle.

C'est bien excellent. Il y a une vague histoire de complot dans le scenario, mais il est clair que Rivette s'en fout un peu. Au lieu de cela, on a des scènes avec Chabrol dans une soirée, ou Jean-Luc Godard à une terrasse de café, qui écrit "tu es adorable" sur un coin de son journal pour le montrer à la finlandaise assise derrière lui. C'est formidable!

Southland tales (Richard Kelly)
The only problem with this film, is that it is a bit hard to follow and requires concentration. But man, this is fantastic. It's the end of the world, it's very funny, original, political, and visually it just blows you away. And there are Christopher Lambert and Justin Timberlake in it! What? what?! Yeah, it's a 10/10 baby.

Un survival pur jus assez redoutable. Mais le tempo est un peu trop rapide pour une efficacité maximum. Jason est tellement partout à la fois qu'à un moment j'ai cru que le concept était "alors en fait c'est un groupe de Jason(s), ils sont trois...". C'est un peu dommage car sinon ça décape. D'ailleurs c'est une telle boucherie qu'en une heure et demie, Jason a le temps de massacrer deux groupes de jeunes blaireaux au lieu d'un. Et là on dit bravo! 7/10

Je n'ai jamais vu le cinéma où je l'ai maté être aussi plein... Un vrai bon film de Tarantino, ce type est vraiment très fort! En plus, contrairement à d'autres, il ne fait pas juste une pauvre scène avec des soldats qui parlent allemand en fond. Non, une bonne moitié du film est en allemand et en français. La classe.

This is a blockbuster with aliens, and your typical bad guys from the government who have no moral nor humanity and just want the control of new weapons, etc. In that respect, this is pure bullshit. Fortunately it is significantly more original than your average sci-fi movie, so all in all it is watchable.

This is simply ridiculous (and boooooring). I give it a point for a few beautiful images in the woods. Did Lars now become the idiot himself? 1/10

An Apatow comedy. This is not the best, it's just OK I'd say.

Xich lo (Anh Hung Tran)
I was very surprised to see Tony Leung having a scene in this movie. It's visually quite beautiful, but all in all this film is overrated.

Little note (Royston Tan)
Royson is the best! Thank you Royston for those marvelous 15 minutes. I simply love it - even the cheesy song.

El laberinto del fauno (Guillermo del Toro)
It lacks subtility, and it's a shame because there is really something there.

T he kind of film I would usually support. Plus I really like Amalric, and boy! there's even Asia Argento in there! But well, I found it boring.

Another Apatow comedy, but this one is really great!

Open water (Chris Kentis)
So yeah, it's basically a couple left alone in the middle of the ocean with sharks, that of course let them have it! No more, no less. And I liked it.

12 Lotus (Royston Tan)
I still like Royston, but frankly this was not good. Plus it's pretty useless a film after the fireworks that was 881...

The burning (Tony Maylam)
Cropsy is about as bad an ass as Jason, and this film is a delight of a slasher.

I like Johnny Cash. I don't like this film.

Film imparfait, mais il y a une bonne quantité de trucs géniaux (et bien tarés!) là-dedans pour en faire un objet difficilement identifiable, mais très recommandable.

Jerichow (Christian Petzold)
Bon c'est simple, j'adore le cinéma de Christian Petzold, le meilleur cinéaste allemand en activité. 8/10
